Background
Maison Géri is the jewellery brand of Géraldine Samuel, granddaughter of jeweller Fred Samuel, built around the Kiss collection and a fine jewellery line.
The project was to create a bilingual French and English e-commerce website that tells the brand’s family story while handling online sales. As with BerberHygge, the client relationship went through the agency’s director, who approved each stage.
Art direction
In luxury jewellery, presentation shapes how the product is perceived. This sector was new territory and called for in-depth work on the art direction.
The chosen direction is understated: midnight blue, a serif typeface and generous white space around each piece.
Online shop
The website was designed and then built with WordPress and WooCommerce, from the mockups to the full shop setup, checkout included.
Over 100 products were added and organised by category (rings, earrings, bracelets, chains) and by collection. Entering the catalogue and designing the shop pages made up a large part of the project.
English version
The English version was the heaviest part: with no automated translation tool at the time, every page had to be rebuilt a second time, largely by hand.
Press and celebrities
The brand’s jewellery has been worn by several public figures, including actress Brooke Shields, who became ambassador for the Gery collection, and featured in the press, from Cosmopolitan to Gala.
These images were built into the website: Denise Richards wearing the Kiss collection on the home page, and Brooke Shields in the brand story and as the fine jewellery visual.
